Background
About Project Bridge
The main objective of this project was to build bridges between Schedule and the rest of Adobe Express.
Adobe Express launched Schedule in 2022 to let users plan and publish posts directly to social media. While powerful, the current workflow slows users down:
From the left navigation, users go to Schedule and click a date.
This opens the post composer in a modal.
To add media, they click the upload/drop zone, which opens a second modal.
Here, performance can be slow. Users must navigate to the right project, select from the assets they have previously created in Express, and click “Upload” to return to the composer.
The composer is flexible. Users can attach assets from their projects or upload directly from their local machine, but the flow remains modal-heavy, click-intensive, and sluggish, disrupting the creative rhythm.
The idea for Project Bridge came from rethinking what “Express” should feel like in practice. If the product promises speed and simplicity, then scheduling should be just as quick and seamless as creating.
Bridge explores an alternative, faster way to bring media into Schedule. It does not replace the existing workflow but offers quick access to assets in Express. Each project acts like a folder, containing all the variations linked to it (for example, an Instagram square, a portrait resize, and a Facebook header).
Instead of opening nested modals, users would access a media panel directly in the Schedule view. This panel defaults to “Most recent projects” but includes a dropdown to switch between any named project. From there, users can select media and drag + drop it onto a date in the calendar. Dropping instantly opens the composer with the media attached, ready for caption and platform selection.
The result would be a faster, more intuitive, and visually driven scheduling experience. Bridge would make scheduling a natural extension of creativity, while the composer continues to provide full flexibility with both Express assets and local uploads.
My role
How I contributed to the project, working with another senior designer, I was tasked to explore ways to provide users access to their creations from inside of Schedule.
My key responsibilities were
Talking to brand team and design system owner to identify components
Diving deep into user journeys and exploring user stories
Exploring a range of possible solutions, prototyping, testing, iterating, gaining feedback and presenting to team members and stakeholders
Tools
Accessing media inside of Schedule
To access media inside of Schedule, the user clicks on the media icon placed below the product title (Schedule) to open a carousel.
The carousel
The carousel is a component that contains a “sp-picker” that allow users select media from their projects and drag + drop into the calendar.
Media selection
The users would first need to select the media they want to add to a post before they can drag + drop into the calendar.
The order they select the media, will be the same they will be added to the post composer.
While hovering a thumbnail, this will display the media format so users can easily find the media they wish to post.
Drag + drop scheduling experience
After selecting the media, the users can simply drag + drop from the carousel to any available day in the calendar that can be accessible from either Week/Month views.
